Basically, we have have been minimally impacted.  I subscribe this to the fresh water that exits Mobile Bay at our eastern border.  These staggering outflow rates from the Mobile River Basin, which is the largest Gulf Coast drainage east of the Mississippi River, are holding the oil off our shores.

A few tar patties have been reguarly cleaned up on the far easter and western ends of the island but very little on the central coastline of Dauphin Island.



Beaches are still looking great in many areas of the island.  Most homes are ready to rent with great beaches and plentiful shells. (My "Chill Out" & "Dune House" are in perfect condition)

We are having scattered tar ball sightings but crews are picking them up VERY quickly.  Many areas of the island have had no impacts.

Most beach front and beach access homes HAD very strong Spring and Summer reservations at the beginning of of April.  An example was my Gulfview/access "Chill Out" which was reserved for much of May through the 1st of November.

 

Many homes have gone under monthly and longer rental contracts with BP contractors.  Some homes are available for weekly rentals.  Be sure to contact your favorite agency.

January thru May 1st had seen a dramatic upswing in interest and sales contracts.  Most Short Sales are under contract and most beach front homes have pending contracts. 

There are still low prices and a strong demand for rentals but Federal Reserve announced pull backs in interest rate support will see higher rates as 2010 moves forward.  Now is a great time to buy, use or rent during the Summer.

Shops are open and eager to visit with old customers and make new friends. Specific info just email.
